Overview

Grant Thornton Stax is a strategy consulting firm built for high-impact work with private equity and growth-focused clients. Following our acquisition by Grant Thornton Advisors LLC, we’re expanding rapidly, combining the agility and culture of a boutique with the scale, reach, and platform of Grant Thornton.

Recognized as a top workplace, Grant Thornton Stax has been named to the 2025 Vault Consulting 50 Best Firms, Management Consulted’s Top Ranked Consulting Firms 2025, and Consulting Magazine’s 2025 Best Firms to Work For.

To support this growth, we’re expanding our Value Creation practice with experienced leaders who can own client relationships, drive measurable EBITDA impact, and develop the next generation of consulting talent.

The Work

As a Manager in the Value Creation practice, you will lead high-impact engagements focused on driving revenue growth, EBITDA expansion, and operational improvement for private equity portfolio companies. You’ll serve as the primary point of contact for portfolio company executives and PE sponsors, owning engagement scope, timelines, and outcomes.

You will work closely with portfolio company executives and private equity sponsors to design and execute initiatives across pricing, commercial excellence, go-to-market strategy, performance improvement, and growth strategy development. Engagements often extend beyond strategy development into implementation planning and measurable execution.

Our teams operate with high ownership, direct client exposure, and meaningful responsibility—without the heavy travel model common in consulting.

What You’ll Do

• Serve as the primary engagement manager, owning scope, timelines, budgets, and client relationships across Value Creation engagements

• Lead workstreams focused on revenue growth, pricing optimization, sales effectiveness, and commercial strategy

• Diagnose performance gaps and identify value creation levers across customer segmentation, pricing, sales operations, and go-to-market models

• Develop actionable roadmaps with clear financial impact and implementation milestones

• Partner directly with portfolio company executives (CEO, CRO, CFO) to drive alignment and support execution

• Build and review financial models to quantify revenue and EBITDA impact

• Structure and review client deliverables that clearly articulate insights, recommendations, and measurable outcomes

• Present findings and implementation plans to private equity sponsors and portfolio company leadership

• Oversee scaled primary research, including phone interviews and web surveys, to inform strategic recommendations

• Manage and mentor Senior Consultants and Consultants, ensuring analytical rigor and high-quality outputs

• Support proposal development and business development activities, including scoping new engagements

• Contribute to the growth of the Value Creation practice, including capability building and new offering development

What Makes This Role Different

• Own tangible revenue and EBITDA impact across portfolio companies

• Work alongside executive leadership teams to implement meaningful change

• Deepen expertise in pricing, commercial excellence, and growth strategy while building leadership capability

• Build sustained client relationships beyond transactional engagements

• Clear pathway toward Senior Manager and Director

• Sustainable consulting model with minimal travel (~10%)
