Summer Associates at Grant Thornton Stax Transactions are an integral part of the case team and are afforded tremendous opportunities. Summer Associates collaborate directly with consultants, managers, and directors daily to tackle our client’s most difficult problems, and to support private equity clients in better understanding and valuing potential investments.
As a Summer Associate, you’ll be a critical member of a project team, providing research and analytic support to case teams, and ultimately helping address our clients’ key questions. Each project presents unique challenges, and from the outset our associates engage in problem solving, research, analysis, and presentation. You are not only responsible for quality research but are also encouraged and expected to develop strategic implications and conclusions, strengthening the broader team.
What You’ll Do
Summer Associates at Grant Thornton Stax Transactions help drive the analytical foundation of each engagement and build toward increasing ownership over time. You will:

Collect and analyze data from a variety of primary and secondary sources, and effectively communicate your findings and insights to the project team in verbal and written form.

Conduct telephone conversations with industry experts and personnel. This could mean talking to CEOs about market trends one week and IT administrators about software choices the next. These phone calls are unscheduled and require effective communication skills and an adaptable approach to navigate through the gate keepers, engage participants and persuade individuals who may be reluctant to contribute to our research goals.

Learn how to draw meaningful insights from primary and secondary data, working with a Grant Thornton Stax project leads to structure presentations with clear storylines and conclusions using PowerPoint or Word.

Collaborate with other project team members to share and further develop your insights and develop analytics that will feed into the final recommendations and presentations we make to our clients.

Contribute to client deliverables and client conversations, sharing analysis and results in combination with the broader team with senior-level executives at Fortune 500 firms and top-tier LBOs.

Qualifications

Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business, economics, engineering, or mathematics.

Prefer junior and above.
-
Must have a 3.5 GPA or better.

Prior related work experience including co-op/intern programs with a focus on business analysis and problem solving.

Strong interest in consulting with an understanding of business dynamics based on work experience, internships, or coursework.

Demonstrated leadership skills through participation on teams/clubs/organizations/associations, whether extracurricular or professional.

Detail oriented, initiative-taker with an intellectual curiosity and teamwork capabilities.

Excellent critical thinking, understanding of business research and analysis.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong command of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
The salary range for this position is $38 per hour.
